“Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come.” – Proverbs 19:20
The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline. A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure. Be present before God to hear His secret counsel. And be ready to follow it. Delight and desire in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) habitually meditate (ponder and study) by day and by night. Observe them and you shall prosper in life.
The wise hear God and increase in learning, and the person of understanding acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]. There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. The Lord is instructing you and teaching you in the way you should go; counseling you with His eye upon you. Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it.
Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), Let God be glad, and let Him who made you rejoice. Give Him your heart and let your eyes observe and delight in His ways, apply your mind to instruction and correction and your ears to words of knowledge.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. We will know the truth, and the truth will set us free. The works of the flesh will try to stop you from carefully listening diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, but being watchful to do all His commandments which He commands you this day, will let the Lord your God set you high above all the nations of the earth. Good and upright is the Lord; therefore listen and follow His instruction. The Lord bless you.
