“God’s readiness to give and forgive is now public. Salvation’s available for everyone! We’re being shown how to turn our backs on a godless, indulgent life, and how to take on a God-filled, God-honoring life. This new life is starting right now, and is whetting our appetites for the glorious day when our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, appears. He offered Himself as a sacrifice to free us from a dark, rebellious life into this good, pure life, making us a people He can be proud of, energetic in goodness.” – Titus 2:11-14
God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in Him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with Himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins He had so patiently endured. This is not only clear, but it’s now —this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in His rightness.
We can make it through anything in the One who makes us who are. We don’t have to listen to sin tell us what to do, and having discovered the delight of listening to God telling us, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master. God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us.
Godliness with contentment is great gain.
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. Jesus commented, “Even more blessed are those who hear God’s Word and guard it with their lives!” (Luke 11:28) Live a steadily and deeply in Jesus, and He in you: He’s given us life from His life, from His very own Spirit. Embrace it heart and soul, this love that comes from God is so unique. Glory!
